Miami-Dade County Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS) Peace & Prosperity Empowerment Through Education Scholarship Program
The purpose of this program is to support college-bound young adults who are directly or indirectly impacted by gun violence achieve their higher education goals. The Office of Neighborhood Safety will award 75 scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each that will be paid directly to colleges and universities on behalf of the scholarship recipients. Applications are available to Miami-Dade County residents graduating from high school on or before August 1, with an unweighted grade-point average of 2.0 or above and attend an accredited college or university in the fall semester.

The purpose of this program is to support research and training on evolutionary and ecological processes acting at the level of populations, species, communities, ecosystems, macrosystems, and biogeographic extents. The Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) encourages research that elucidates fundamental principles that identify and explain the unity and diversity of life and its interactions with the environment over space and time. The purpose of this program is to support planning and demonstration activities, as well as projects and strategies to prevent death and serious injury on roads and streets involving all roadway users, including pedestrians; bicyclists; public transportation, personal conveyance, and micromobility users; motorists; and commercial vehicle operators. Eligibility is limited to metropolitan planning organizations; political subdivisions of a state or territory (e.g., cities, towns, counties); federally recognized Tribal governments; and a multijurisdictional group of entities described in any of the aforementioned three types of entities. The purpose of this program is to support research that addresses developmental processes within the domains of perceptual, cognitive, social, emotional, language, and motor development across the lifespan by working with any appropriate populations for the topics of interest including infants, children, adolescents, adults (including aging populations), and non-human animals. The program also supports research investigating factors that affect developmental change, including family, peers, school, community, culture, media, physical, genetic, and epigenetic influences. The program funds research that incorporates multidisciplinary, multi-method, and/or longitudinal approaches; develops new methods, models, and theories for studying development; and integrates different processes (e.g., memory, emotion, perception, cognition), levels of analysis (e.g., behavioral, social, neural) and time scales. Eligibility is limited to foreign organizations (for cooperative projects involving U.S. and foreign organizations, support will only be provided for the U.S. portion); for-profit organizations (U.S.-based commercial organizations, including small businesses, with strong capabilities in scientific or engineering research or education and a passion for innovation); non-profit, non-academic organizations (independent museums, observatories, research laboratories, professional societies and similar organizations located in the U.S. that are directly associated with educational or research activities); other Federal Agencies and Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) (contact the appropriate program before preparing a proposal for submission); state and local governments (state educational offices or organizations and local school districts); Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) (Two- and four-year IHEs, including community colleges, accredited in, and having a campus located in the US, acting on behalf of their faculty members); and Tribal Nations (an American Indian or Alaska Native tribe, band, nation, pueblo, village, or community that the Secretary of the Interior acknowledges as a federally recognized tribe pursuant to the Federally Recognized Indian Tribe List Act of 1994). The purpose of this program is to provide Capital Advance funding for the development of supportive rental housing for Very-Low-Income persons aged 62 years or older and project rental subsidies in the form of a Project Rental Assistance Contract (PRAC) to maintain ongoing affordability. This program provides elderly persons with the opportunity to live independently, but with important voluntary support services such as nutritional, transportation, continuing education, and/or health-related services. In addition, this program supports the development of intergenerational housing for elderly caregivers raising children. Eligibility is limited to nonprofits. Award Ceiling: $20,000,000.

The purpose of this program is to support rigorous research and evaluation projects to fill knowledge gaps in two topical areas: studies on the root causes and consequences of school violence and examinations of the impact and effectiveness of awards made for purposes authorized under the STOP School Violence Act. The purpose of this program is to support research on, and demonstration projects of, improved approaches to measuring community perceptions of policing and public safety. Specifically, the program seeks to fund research that develops and tests innovative methods to provide representative samples that are accurate across microgeographic areas, cost-effective, able to be implemented frequently, and scalable for use in municipalities of various sizes. The purpose of this program is to help address state-identified needs for personnel preparation in special education, early intervention, related services, and regular education to work with children, including infants, toddlers, and youth with disabilities; and ensure that those personnel have the necessary skills and knowledge, derived from practices that have been determined through scientifically based research, to be successful in serving those children. Eligibility is limited to IHEs and private nonprofit organizations that have legal authority to enter into grants and cooperative agreements with the Federal government on behalf of an IHE. The purpose of this program is to develop power supplies that capture and convert microscopic forms of marine biomass (e.g., dissolved organic matter (DOM), phytoplankton, zooplankton) and other substances (e.g., microplastics, nutrients) into electrical power. These power supplies are intended for onboard use by ocean-deployed sensor systems presently powered by batteries. They are to self-refuel and operate fully submerged and deliver battery-level power without being serviced far longer than is possible by comparably sized battery packs. Eligibility is limited to all responsible sources capable of satisfying the Government’s needs. Award Ceiling: N/A.

The purpose of this program is to support Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) to be accredited, sustainable, and better able to build the capacity of local small businesses, including to enter larger markets. The purpose of this program is to establish and strengthen collaboration to support the efforts of community coalitions working to prevent youth substance use. Eligibility is limited to applicants that reside within the United States and/or the U.S. territories and are a 501(c)(3) organization. The purpose of this program is to provide support for entities to implement pollution prevention projects. Source Reduction Assistance (SRA) grants can support research, investigation, experiments, surveys, studies, demonstration, education, and/or training using source reduction approaches. Eligibility is limited to states, local, interstate, and intrastate government agencies and instrumentalities, federally recognized Tribes, intertribal consortia, and non-profit organizations formed under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All projects must take place within the geographic boundaries of one of the EPA Regions announcing this solicitation (3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10). Award Ceiling: $240,000.

The purpose of this program is to support the development of an environmentally and economically sustainable aquaculture industry in the U.S. and generate new science-based information and innovation to address industry constraints. The program will fund projects that directly address major constraints to the U.S. aquaculture industry and focus on one or more of the following program priorities: genetics of commercial aquaculture species; critical disease issues impacting aquaculture species; design of environmentally and economically sustainable aquaculture production systems; and economic research for increasing aquaculture profitability. Eligibility is limited to State Agricultural Experiment Stations; colleges and universities (including junior colleges offering associate degrees or higher); university research foundations; other research institutions and organizations; federal agencies; national laboratories; private organizations or corporations; individuals who are U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents; and any group consisting of two or more entities identified above. The purpose of this program is to provide funding to local communities and groups of individuals for technical assistance related to pipeline safety. The purpose of this program is to provide expanded career technical training and career outcomes for Job Corps students, specifically in information technology. Awardee(s) are expected to implement and test innovative training models within the general guidelines required of Job Corps, to identify approaches that could be used at scale across the program.
